Erin BrockovichI was kind of surprised that this movie wasn't as bad as it could have been.  Julia Roberts is in it, so I wasn't expecting a whole lot. It was much better than I was expecting from Julia!  Probably one of Julia's breast performances. Oops!  Did I say 'breast'? I meant BEST!

One of the first noticeable things about the movie is of course Julia (Erin's) skimpy and almost revealing outfits where her breasts always seem to steal the scene.  Anyway, after the initial (and continuing?) distraction there was actually some halfway decent acting in the movie.

Erin is a single mother of three small kids and is desperate for some kind of job to pay off the piles of bills, and increase her bank account from the $16 that is in it. The first scene is kind of painful to watch as she is in an interview for some kind of medical job and trying very hard to sell herself.  Yes, I am sure we have all had interviews like this—I know I have!

She finally gets a job working for a lawyer (actually forcing herself into the job).  She discovers that there are medical records mixed in with some real estate documents and finds that kind of odd. She goes way out of her way to figure out what is going on and finds that a nearby factory is polluting the environment, and the lawyers for the company are trying desperately to cover up what is going on, pretending that all is well. Basically, that is the whole plot of the movie in a few sentences.

I found the movie started out pretty good in the first half, but got a little slow the last hour. But overall it wasn't bad.

There is much better acting in Erin Brockovich than in the few of Julia's other movies. I really liked how during serious meeting she would just yell out what she had on her mind and didn't hold back at all.  Good fun!  I always wanted to do something like that in a boring, serious meeting!
