Majorettes in Space (France 1996) Premise: Dimitri, a soviet cosmonaut, likes majorettes. Catherin and Laurent like making love. Jean Paul II likes airports and Vincent likes boys. Majorettes in Space - An interesting combination of live action and stop animation. There is no plot and it seems to be the external projection of the director's internal thoughts. Interesting to see the how someone thinks.
hITCH (USA -1999) Premise: Two guys on a road trip. hITCH is a documentary-styled study of the dynamics of two men traveling in very close quarters. This film is very quiet in nature and doesn't attempt to be anything other than what it is. Very interesting…
Inside Out (USA - 1997) Premise: A guy tries to find his identity while dealing with difficulties that come from being the son of celebrities. Inside Out is the semi-autobiographical story of Jason Gould (son of Barbara Streisand and Elliot Gould) and his way of dealing with being born into the public eye. The story is told in fictional setting and was originally intended to be a feature length film. This is a "slice of life" type movie, where there's not really a plot.
Just One Time (USA - 1997) Premise: Turn around is fair play. Just One Time is the story of Amy and Anthony. Amy is at the end of her rope with her fiancé's request for "a three-way" and doesn't want to do it, but she is getting pressured relentlessly. In order to get Anthony off her back, Amy turns the tables on him. Touché! This short story has since been expanded into a full length feature. $30 (USA - 1999) Premise: Teen coming-of-age with a twist. For Scott (Erik MacArthur), turning 16 is bittersweet. You see, his father (Greg Itzin) thinks that it's high time for Scott to "become a man" and thus arranges a rendezvous with a prostitute named Emily (Sara Gilbert). A strange friendship is formed by the two as their guards are let down and they start talking. *Interesting side note - much to the dismay of many, there is a strong tie in $30 to the "Little House on the Prairie" TV show. The writer is Christopher Landon (son of Pa, Michael Landon) and Emily is played by Sara Gilbert (sister to Half Pint, Melissa Gilbert). In addition to that, Emily is watching an episode of "Little House" when Scott walks into the room. Too funny!!! |
