Just saw this on the Seattle Times website: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/movies/2009292481_siff03.html SIFF Cinema plans a summer hiatus SIFF Cinema — the year-round arm of the Seattle International Film Festival — will close its doors for most of July and August to cut costs, says managing director Deborah Person. People seem to have zombies on the mind this week. Perhaps it is because of the heat... or maybe because mid-festival fatigue is actually starting to set in. But here are my observations of the day regarding this curious theme: A) The most buzzed about movie of the week (at least in these ears) has been for the locally-made film ZMD: Zombies of Mass Destruction which is, get this, a gay zombie movie! Gotta love that! The screening on Tuesday…

So I'm in the midst of taking a couple days off of SIFF, but in the meantime, I've got some scoops. If you love seeing celebs at screenings (admit it: there's a celebrity whore in all of us), here are some peeps in town this week that you may have heard of (and their respective movie screening they'll be attending): Doug Pray, director of Art & Copy Iben Hjejle, actor in The Escape Barbet Schroeder, director of Inju, the Beast…

You may have noticed my SIFF'n slowing down. I apologize in advance because it will continue this way through the next week, as my regular job is sucking all of my time. But still, I persevere, and will be catching flicks when I can (and hopefully pile them on in the last week). That said, after a couple-days break from SIFF'n, I caught the Gay-La presentation of Patrik Age 1.5 (Patrik 1,5) (6/8) from Sweden. I had heard good buzz…

So has anyone noticed that the SIFF tables and main ticket booth aren't selling any festival schwag this year? No T-Shirts, posters, silly lunchboxes... nothin'! I mean, charging $10 for the program (over $5 the previous years) was surprising, but not really unexpected. But the poor ticketing tables look so sparse and lonely with no goodies to pick through (and I think that the stark silhouette theme of the marketing would have looked cool on T's). Oh well. I'll bet…
