toronto international film festival diary

Toronto International Film Festival Diary 2001tonight, i saw clea duvall's latest, "thirteen conversations about one thing." she's RADIANT in this movie and her role is a nice departure from the kind of butchy, tomboyish characters she's become known for. her character is this adorably sweet cleaning lady who has an incredibly positive outlook on life. it's the first time i've ever seen her in a role that doesn't require her to furrow her brow so much.

she was at the screening and looked gorgeous... all fancy and dressed up in a sassy black dress. i passed her while i was coming out of the washroom. she was being ushered to a private area, so i didn't get a chance to say "you're kewl." i saw her at the after-party, too, but didn't have the nerve to go say hi. she was with a few other people and, i presume, her girlfriend, so i would have come off as a big nerd, i think.

Thirteen Conversations About One Thing... where's Clea Duvall?she's still in town for a day or two, so there might be hope yet.

as of right now, "thirteen conversations about one thing" doesn't have a distributor. BUT, it was well-received at the venice fest and *would* have been well-received here last night were it not for on rather unfortunate incident during the premiere: a woman in the theatre had a seizure about an hour and ten minutes into the movie, so mayhem resulted and i don't think anyone actually watched the last 20-25 minutes of the film. anyway, my point is that it should find at least limited release. it stars matthew mcconaughey, after all.
