1999 - Japan
Director: Masato Harada - Reviewed by Linda A "thriller" about corruption in a Tokyo bank (economic thrillers... only Japan can really pull that off!). It stars the very fine actor who was the dancing accountant in Shall We Dance? The film had a lot of interesting stylized shots, I guess to make images of salarymen in business suits running look a little more interesting. But I have to say that business corruption themes, like the conspiracy episodes of "The X-Files" make my brain shut off after a bit. Though overall I liked this film, I had a bit of a hard time keeping interest in who would be the next bank manager to take the fall from the scandal. |
