Scout’s Honor documents the on-going policy of the Boy Scouts of America to openly discriminate against gays. The main focus of the documentary is Steven Cozza, a straight Boy Scout on the verge of getting his Eagle honor, who takes on a campaign (Scouts For All) to try and abolish the anti-gay policy. Steven started out small by having a petition stand outside a local supermarket, but gained so much momentum, he is now going around the country with his petition and speaking at a variety of Gay and Lesbian functions.

His campaign has not been an easy one, he’s been harassed by his troop, gotten death threats and has been called names on the street by strangers. He continues on his quest because he can’t imagine being discriminated against himself.

In addition to Steven’s story, Scout’s Honor chronicles the stories of three other men: Dave Rice, a 69-year-old straight man and co-founder of Scouts For All, who was asked to discontinue his lifelong association with the Boy Scouts because if his involvement with Steven's campaign. The film also introduces Tim Curran, a gay man who, in 1981, was kicked out of the scouts for coming out, and James Dale who was kicked out 10 years later. Both Tim and James both sued the Boy Scouts of America, but ultimately lost.

It’s sad to see an American institution, private or public, openly discriminate.
