After sixty-odd years Tom and Jerry are still coming up with hilarious ways to torment one another.
If you're searching for vintage Tom and Jerry cartoons that will take you back to your childhood, Tom and Jerry Tales Volume 6 won't quite hit the spot. If, on the other hand, you're happy to watch the new adventures of this quarrelsome cat and mouse duo, you're in luck. After sixty-odd years Tom and Jerry are still coming up with hilarious ways to torment one another.
The collection contains five episodes from the television show, and each episode consists of three related cartoons. Themes range from history to music to snow to wild animals, but regardless of the setting, Tom and Jerry are sure to be at each other's throats. Whether Jerry is attempting to drop the Liberty Bell on Tom's head or smashing his face with a frying pan, watching these two fight really never gets old. No matter how you try to resist, you're bound to find yourself laughing at some point. If there's one thing I love about Tom, it's that he wears underpants under his fur. Thankfully this collection includes a cartoon that allows us to see it.
On the downside, a few of the cartoons seem awfully familiar. At one point Tom winds up babysitting a giant, oafish kitten (Baby Huey anyone?) and in another episode he mistakes a baby kangaroo for Jerry. Hmm. Didn't that happen to Sylvester the cat on Looney Tunes? It's a little disappointing to see this sort of creative plagiarism, but chances are your kids won't mind.
