Hey, hey, hey Boo Boo! Guess who's back in time for an All Star Comedy Christmas Caper? It's Yogi Bear and all his pals!
Hey, hey, hey Boo Boo! Guess who's back in time for an All Star Comedy Christmas Caper? It's Yogi Bear and all his pals!
Yogi and the rest of the Hanna Barbera gang venture out of Jellystone Park (and away from that annoying ranger) for the holidays, and find themselves in New York City. Yogi winds up posing as a department store Santa, and befriends a sweet little girl whose father seems too busy to pay attention to her. Thoughts of running away quickly turn to homesickness as the little girl snuggles against the cold in Central Park with her new friends. Suddenly her nice, warm house and preoccupied father seem pret-ty appealing, and with the help of Yogi and the gang she'll be safe and cozy in no time.
The Christmas Caper is cute and cheerful for the holidays, and I certainly remember this special being a part of my 80s holiday repertoire. It's fun to see all of the characters (including Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble) so many of us remember from childhood, but I have to wonder how many kids today know who they are. It's possible that DVDs like this one and the new live action film will familiarize a new generation with these characters, but specials like this might be appreciated more for their nostalgic value than their timelessness.
DVD NOTES
The classic cartoon "Yogi's Birthday Party" rounds out the fun as Yogi gets a This Is Your Life-style birthday surprise...on national television.
