Thankfully the movie is so lighthearted that using Corey Haim and porn in the same sentence isn't half as depressing as you might think.
I never thought I'd be using Corey Haim and porn in the same sentence. I know it's naive and kind of ridiculous given his relationship with the Playboy Mansion in his last years, but there was something so vulnerable and innocent about him at the height of his career. He might have been playful and mischievous, but it was never really possible to think of him as a bad boy. Even now it seems strange that his final film finds him sharing credits with Ron Jeremy in the playful but porny Trade In.
Tough times have left Car Kingdom on the verge of closing its doors, but the owner, Marty (Chris Mascarelli), is hoping for a last-minute save. He's about to engage in an intense sales competition with rival dealership Empire Cars, and he's hiring his ex-girlfriend, Gina (Christina Leigh) to get his unwieldy staff back on track. Of course, working in such close quarters with an ex is bound to be complicated, and the scheme to bring in extra money by renting out the back room to a film crew backfires when Marty realizes they're making porn. They might have been able to keep the whole production on the down low...if it hadn't spilled out onto the sales floor in the middle of Family Day. Just when it seems as though all is lost, the day (and the dealership) is saved for this team of likable misfits.
Though the humor is ribald to say the least, Trade In is basically a good-natured workplace comedy, and despite the rampant sex, there's actually a sweet love story at work between Marty and Gina. As goofy independent sex comedies go, you could certainly do worse, and this is the last (sadly) the last place you'll be able to see Corey Haim starring as himself. Thankfully the movie is so lighthearted that using Corey Haim and porn in the same sentence isn't half as depressing as you might think.
