Though there's very little Easter to be found in this Easter special, it's hard to care when you're having this much fun.
Bugs Bunny's Easter Funnies is little more than a good excuse to watch some of our favorite Looney Tunes cartoons. When Granny needs to find a replacement for the Easter Bunny, all of her Looney Tunes pals clamor for the chance to audition. She and Bugs sit in a theater as Daffy Duck, Pepe LePew, Sylvester, and other regulars parade through with clips of their best work.
As the special progresses we're treated to the fabulous "Birds Anonymous" wherein Sylvester does his best not to swallow Tweety with the help of some very committed sponsors. The classic "Rabbit of Seville" finds Bugs Bunny playing barber to Elmer Fudd, and "Hillbilly Hare" features those dimwitted, bearded, square-dancing hill people whom Bugs Bunny so wittily outsmarts. Pepe LePew cluelessly stinks up the room in the hilarious "For Scent-imental Reasons" (although I must admit that Pepe's relentless romantic advances still make me as uncomfortable as they did when I was a kid). "Knighty Knight Bugs", "Robin Hood Daffy", "Sahara Hare", and "Tweety's Circus" round out the package.
Though there's very little Easter to be found in this Easter special, it's hard to care when you're having this much fun. The cartoons have held up well, and are every bit as clever as they were when they first aired. As long as you don't already have these favorites in another collection, Bugs Bunny's Easter Funnies is a sound investment.
